Jacaranda Mimosifolia
Jacaranda Mimosifolia is a Brazillian native will have you dancing in the streets with it’s masses of hazy purple bell shaped flowers on display in late spring and summer time, shedding a beautiful carpet of flowers on the ground. The Foliage is beautiful too – soft green, feathery and fern like.
They grow well here, many are used as street trees, in parks or lining larger driveways. Plant in a sunny spot, with well drained, nutrient enriched, improved soil and you’ll get good growth from this tree. Also protect from frost while young, although they’ll quickly re shoot again Make sure you have room as they’re quite a large tree – and can eventually grow up to around 20m, depending on your local climate. Down this way, they grow to 10+m
Hint- if you leave unpruned, they’ll keep their nice umbrella shape, otherwise you’ll be left with lots of upright shoots, losing the shape of the tree
