Golden Cane Palm
Dypsis lutescens (synonym Chrisalidocarpus lutescens)
Golden Cane Palm is a clustering palm that turns golden in the sun. As it has no main trunk, Golden Canes are great for screening or using with other green palms in a resort or Bali style garden. They don’t grow too big, 4-6m down this way.
These make a great poolside plant as they don’t have an invasive root system while offering shade from their clustering habit. Use for screening down a fence line.
They will grow happily in full sun, showing off gorgeous, golden palm fronds. (They’re a little greener in the shade. ) and there are no sharp spikes on the Golden Cane.
They look fabulous in pots for the patio and make a great indoor plant – they can live in darker areas too – we’ve tested them out here and they were quite happy in lower light areas inside the house!
