Mop Top Robinia Psuedo-acacia umbraculifera
Gorgeous, vibrant green foliage and handsome round shape. Robinias are a deciduous, grafted small tree. Really popular in the 80’s and 90’s. These thornless, Mop tops are grafted on to a really vigorous root stock. They look sensational with such an appealing colour and shape. Pruning is required to retain its dense round shape.
We haven’t stocked these in years as people around Australia are just getting over the hangover of removing the suckers that appear within a 10m radius of the tree. We do try to talk you out of selecting this tree if you want to have good relations with your neighbours!
In saying all of this – we have had many people still requesting this tree. Usually people on large properties who are fully aware of the suckering.
Anyway, we have them in the nursery. They look great in our big 90l pots – and can happily stay with us in the nursery for us and customers to admire. If you do want one great! ;) we will happily sell these.
