Syzygium – Bush Christmas

Syzygium Bush Christmas is a highly ornamental evergreen, Lilly Pily  providing interest all year round with glossy green leaves, red new growth, summer flowers and autumn berries (which are ok to eat). If left un-pruned, Bush Xmas will grow to around 4m. We love this for topiary and hedging. It has a reasonable growth rate, so is a good choice for a screen or a hedge. The compact foliage attracts many small birds, who use it to nest.

We have been growing Bush Xmas for ever. It’s usually always available, or it’s in production and will be ready soon. The good thing about this, is that when you plant a hedge -if you lose one or two (this is not uncommon!) Or you would like to extend your hedge, the same plant that is easily obtainable will be ready. We get many people calling us for the latest hybrid hedge plant that is grown for 1 or 2 years and not avail any more and they only want one or two plants but have called everyone in the state.
