These are quite the ornamental plant, ideal for planting in a pot on your patio or in a warm, protected spot in the courtyard. Currently, these are growing in our green house in a cool spot. They were in a hotter temp, but as soon as we moved them outside in the shadehouse, they just flourished with the slightly cooler temperatures. They’re happy in there and with our super potting mix, they’ve grown quite a good size. Plant out in warmer months and keep away from frosts in Winter. They’ll love a cool spot on your patio or sheltered courtyard or grow indoors.
Coffee arabica can grow into a smallish shrub to about 3-4m, but is best kept pruned to around 1.5 to 2m for picking the berries and encouraging more fruit. Inside the berries, are your precious coffee beans ready for you to roast.
Fragrant, white flowers appear in the warmer months. You won’t be able to sustain your coffee habit with just one plant, you may need to put your own plantation in, ;) but you’ll certainly have fun when they come into fruit and you have a go at roasting your own beans!
