Bougainvillea Magnifica trailii
Displays stunning purple/magenta bracts in Summer time. Mostly year round once they get established-
This is an old fashioned variety that grows XL
Great for screening and security
Can keep pruned back – but do it regularly – smaller pruning is better to avoid the thorny new growth.
Keep watered well when young – plant in improved soil – make sure either is free draining. Once these take off, you’re good to go. They look after themselves and you can turn the water off. Tolerates hot heat, drought, windy, coastal (you may lose some bracts in the wind – but they’re pretty resilient)
The plant keeps its colours and leaves the longer it is in the ground. Great for a security fence.
